Privacy policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026
Short version
No advertising cookies, tracking pixels or analytics. Cloudflare Pages delivers these pages, and Cloudflare Turnstile checks the feedback form for bots.
What germandex collects
Only what you choose to send through the feedback form. There are no visitor accounts, advertising cookies, tracking pixels, analytics or ads, and germandex does not share or sell any personal data.
What stays in your browser
Your city choice is saved in your browser's local storage (under the name "gx-city") so the site remembers it next time. This data stays on your device and is never sent to germandex or anyone else. Your language is part of the page address (for example germandex.com/fr/), not stored. You can delete the stored city at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc.). When you open a page, Cloudflare's servers process technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request. This is needed to deliver the pages and keep them secure, and Cloudflare may process it outside the EU, including in the US. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in running the site reliably and safely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
Fonts, images and bot protection
Fonts and guide images are served from this site. When you open the feedback form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks whether the visitor is human. It processes technical signals such as the IP address, browser information and TLS fingerprint for security, not advertising. See Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum. We use a daily salted digest of the connection IP address to limit repeated form attempts, not the raw IP in feedback records. Links to other websites take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Feedback form
The "Suggest Edits" button and the "better" link in the manifesto open a form. germandex receives your message, any screenshot you attach, your optional reply email, the page you were on and your language setting. Cloudflare Workers processes the form; Cloudflare D1 stores the feedback record, and a private Cloudflare R2 bucket in the European Union stores screenshots. Screenshots are not publicly listed. The notification email includes your message and a screenshot link that expires after 24 hours. Email notifications are sent from [email protected] to [email protected], a mailbox Venkat runs for germandex, through Cloudflare's verified-destination email service. Stored feedback is checked for delivery hourly. If email delivery is temporarily unavailable, the feedback remains queued in Cloudflare rather than being discarded.
Your email is used only to reply to your message, not added to a mailing list. The basis for processing the feedback is your consent when you send the form (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Bot checks and rate limits protect the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Screenshots are set to expire from R2 automatically after 30 days. Screenshot links stop working sooner, after 24 hours. The message and optional reply email in D1 are kept until the feedback has been dealt with and deleted; they do not currently have automatic 30-day deletion. Email copies, once notifications are enabled, remain in Venkat's inbox until deleted. Cloudflare D1's Free plan also keeps recovery history for up to seven days after active records are deleted. You can request deletion using the contact below.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to complain to a data protection supervisory authority. Unless you have sent the feedback form, germandex holds no personal data about you. To access or delete a submission, get in touch using the contact below. For data processed by the host, see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Changes and contact
This policy can change when the site changes. The date above shows the latest version. Questions: email Venkat at [email protected].
